Traveling

Journeys and trips excite me. The best trips are the ones going through the back roads, especially near the coastline or in a mountain range during the fall season. In India, I liked the long train and bus journeys. The bus journey through the High Range region in Kerala and Tamil Nadu is amazing both for the scenes and the bending roads that run on the side of the mountains. What's particularly great about New England is that there are so many interesting places to visit very close to home. A drive of 2 hours in different directions takes one to the White Mountains, the borders of Vermont, and the beaches of Maine and Cape Cod.

Photography

I have always liked scenic and artistic photographs, but until recently, I never took photography seriously. I like taking photos of nature spots like beaches, mountains, lakes and forests. Urban areas offer good locations too - churches, parks, historical buildings and skyscrapers. You can view some of the photos I have taken at Flickr. These photos have been taken with various cameras including throwaway cameras, Canon EOS Rebel 2000 and Canon Powershot A710 IS.

Miscellaneous

Collecting trivia facts is one of my hobbies. When I was younger and had more time, I would fill notebooks with factoids collected from various sources. I like collecting and solving riddles, logical and mathematical puzzles. I am very interested in different cultures. I like to converse with people and share experiences and anecdotes.

I have a drawing hobby which may sound rather weird and which, for lack of a better word, I call "random drawing". This consists of drawing random lines and shading them with various colors to get unique patterns. It doesn't mean anything, even though once in a while, it does produce interesting patterns (the "Typewriter Monkeys and Shakespeare Plays" phenomenon).
