★★ A Matter of Honor, by Jeffrey Archer

A detective story about a person protecting an inheritance that has geo-political ramifications. I found it rather unbelievable and the storyline is rather outdated today.

★★ The Prodigal Daughter, by Jeffrey Archer

The sequel to "Kane and Abel", it is the story of Florentyna Kane, who goes on to become the President of the United States. The idea is good, the execution bad. Part of the problem is that being a sequel, it carried too much baggage from the previous book. The story should have stood out as a separate novel. Another aspect is that the book is unnecessarily romanticized instead of being realistic. It is worth noting that 25 years after the book, the United States has not had a female or non-white President, despite huge strides made by women and minorities.
